Mumbai woke up to partly cloudy to generally cloudy conditions on Sunday, August 30 with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting moderate rain over Mumbai during the day.
According to the IMD’s latest forecast, Mumbai and its adjoining areas, including Thane, are likely to experience spells of light to moderate rainfall through the day. The weather department has not issued any warning for Mumbai for Sunday.
As per IMD, Mumbai on Thursday is likely to record a maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26.7 degrees Celsius.
Tide timings
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also issued tide timings for Mumbai.
As per BMC, high tide is expected at 1:04 pm, reaching a height of 4.41 metres. Another high tide is expected at 8:55 am on August 31, with a height of 4.28 metres.
The low tide is expected at 7:15 pm on Sunday, reaching 0.73 metres. Another low tide is forecast at 7:06 am on August 31, with a height of 1.00 metres.
Mumbai lakes levels at 95.93 per cent, Vihar lake remains 100 per cent full
Mumbai’s seven lakes, which supply drinking water to the city, collectively held 13,88,423 million litres of water, or 95.93 per cent of their total live storage capacity, as of 6 am on Sunday, August 30, according to the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.
The current stock stands lower than in the same period last year, when the reservoirs contained 14,00,995 million litres (96.80 per cent). Also, the lake levels remained lower than in 2024, when the lakes had 13,88,614 million litres, accounting for 95.94 per cent of the total live storage.
Vihar lake remain full
Among the seven reservoirs, Vihar lake remained at 100 per cent live storage. Whereas the water levels at Tulsi stood at 97.92, Tansa at 98.33 per cent, Middle Vaitarna was at 98.08 per cent, Bhatsa, the city’s largest reservoir at 95.91 per cent, while Upper Vaitarna remained the lowest-filled lake at 89.76 per cent.
